Coach Burns is the very first coach Indiana Nitro had, when they started with just one 11U team in 2010, the organization’s first year. That team went on to win over 50 games and 5 championships, and amazingly, also had 11 of those 12 players go on to play at the collegiate level. He has taken two teams to Cooperstown, winning one title and falling short as a runner-up in the other. He is the organization’s founder, and to this day, his mantra of developing coaches to develop players is still his focus. Burns has more than 18 years of coaching baseball, as well as assisting coaches with training year around. Burns, a Ball State University grad, works in sales for Bally Sports Indiana (the Indiana Pacers TV Network), and is married to his wife Tammy. They have two sons, Brendan and Brock, who were both long-time Indiana Nitro players. Burns has coached more than 60 Nitro players who have gone on to play collegiately, and recently coached the 16U Gold team in 2021 to a 26-9-1 record. Burns will move up to coach the 17U Gold team in 2022.
